Hello,
During the wedding the husband/wife usually have two persone (one on each side) who are/ their witnesses. Is ''a witness'' a good word for that?
ex : My brother will be my witness during my wedding.
Many thanks
Piotr
Marriage requires two witnesses.
Usually, there is one male witness and one female witness.
It is not a legal requirement in Australia that they be of different sexes.
The male witness is called the "best man", and the female witness "bridesmaid" if she is single, and "matron of honour" if she is married.
There may be additional "groomsmen" and extra bridesmaids, who are essentially decorative.
The groom's brother is often the best man.
