Would "benvenuto" be completely improper here? Is the difference because one is a welcome to a newcomer versus a welcome to someone returning?

OOps, Smoky...I've just realised I had a lapsus and somehow understood you were after a translation of Welcome Back rather than Welcome Home.

Yes...Benvenuto is the correct translation of Welcome (Home). You might wish to add " a casa" after 'Benvenuto"

    Apologies.

Ciao tutti: How would I say, "Welcome, home" or "Welcome, back" when greeting someone who has returned from holiday or trip?

    benvenuta domestico?
    benvenuta casa? any suggestions? Grazie
