welcoming motorists/drivers to the village

What do I call all the users of a public road? Drivers refer to cars only, as I can imagine. How about motorists? Would that include bike riders too? Or should I use 'people' or 'visitors'?

"At the entrance to the village, the inhabitants hang out a huge banner, marking the 630th anniversary and welcoming motorists to the picturesque village."

"Visitors" would seem to me the obvious word to use. However, there isn't really anything wrong with "motorists", if it is motorists you particularly wish to welcome. "Motorists" does not include pedestrians, cyclists or bus passengers.
