Example: Eleusis starts off promisingly enough, but well-appointed graphics can’t make up for the lackluster story and generally poor gameplay.

Source: Eleusis review

Background: A computer game titled Eleusis receives a two-star rating (out of five) from a review. It's kind of a mixed bag in that the excellent graphics are probably the only reason to keep one going through to the end. The story and gameplay are spotty and don't live up to what was promised.

Would you use "well-appointed graphics" to describe beautiful, breathtaking graphics in a game or movie, as in
The well-appointed CGI was the only redeeming quality about this movie

Your background comment holds the answers: "excellent graphics" or "breathtaking graphics."
    Thank you.
Is it simply an alternative to beautifully rendered graphics, excellent graphics etc?
There are not many instances of "well-appointed graphics" on Google so I guess it's uncommon but understandable given the right context.

No, "well-appointed" is not a meaningful alternative to "beautifully rendered". "Well-appointed" can refer to rooms, houses, buildings, etc, but not to artwork.
Whoever wrote that is a poor writer.
