T breakthrough was made some weeks later, when Anne was able to show Helen the connection between the letters WATER and the liquid that was rushing from the family's well pump/pump well.

Is it well pump or pump well here? Thanks.

It would be "well pump". The well is the hole in the ground into which a pipe is inserted. The pump is the mechanism that, when levered, brings the water up the pipe and out of the tap/spout. They are often also called a "water pump".
