What type of things do you normally work on?

How can I ask someone what they do (professionally), on a daily basis?

For example, if I were on a job interview and asked "What is your position in the company?" and they said, "I'm a senior designer."
Then I want to ask:
"What do you normally work on?" or "What kind of things do you work on?"

My attempt would be:
Su cosa lavori normalmente?
Su che tipo di cose lavori?

Please let me know if that is correct. Thank you!

    My attempt would be:
    (1) Su cosa lavori normalmente?
    (2) Su che tipo di cose lavori?
Please let me know if that is correct. Thank you!
In the scenario you suggested, the interviewee has already told he's a senior designer
and has probably specified what kind of company he works for (see previous question) so I think (1) works fine.
    (2) sounds a little awkward to my ears.

Di cosa ti occupi di preciso?
I'd use this one too, if I wished the interviewee to go more in depth about what a senior designer exactly does (for example, if my company hasn't got senior designers at all)
If his position is already clear instead, I would probably get more specific, like:
    - che cosa progetti, di preciso?
    - su che tipo di prodotti lavori?

Thank you all! I will plan on using "Di cosa ti occupi di preciso?".

Just curious, could I also say something that feels simpler like:
Che cosa fai normalmente durante il giorno?

Cosa ti piace fare nel tuo tempo libero? (Informal)
Cosa le piace fare nel suo tempo libero? (Formal)
Would be a question concerning activities outside work. Some job interviewers use it to know better the person and have an idea about his interest.

Exactly. It would bear no relation with the previous exchange:
Q: "What's you position in the company?"
    A: "I'm a senior designer".
