When I used to live in China, my favourite place is/was...

Should I use "is" or "was" in the above sentence?

The first half of the sentence uses past tense, but I still love the place/ it is still one of my favourite places.

Thank you!

    Definitely was.

    On the other hand:
When I lived in China, my favorite place was ...
Now that I live in Japan, my favorite place is ...

A couple of other ways of expressing the same idea might be:

When I lived in China, my favourite place was and still is .......
When I lived in China, my favourite place was ......... . It still is.
