Where are we in the train journey?

Suppose I am travelling in a train on an overnight journey, I awoke in the middle of the journey and I want to find out from another awake passenger as to where we are in the journey or which station the train passed last, to what extent we have finished our journey. How?

Suppose I am travelling in a train on an overnight journey, I awake in the middle of the journey and I want to find out from another passenger,whos is awake, where we are on the journey or which station the train passed last, at what far we are into the journey. How?

Where are we? I think would be the simplest way.

I would ask the guard, as your fellow passengers were probably also asleep.

In India, the guard is not accessible to th passengers, unless the trains stops for 10 to 20 minutes.

In that case, simply asking "Do you know where we are?" "Did you notice which station we passed last" would both suffice.
I travelled in India by train (from The Punjab...Amritsa if my memory serves me well...down to Mumbai) and always found a guard to be around. Great trains!
