where do you/does it/are you hurt?

Hello
This is my first question here so I'm excited and nervous a little.
Here's my question.

When someone is hurt or feels pain, so he goes to see a doctor,
he would be asked "Where does it hurt?"
(1) Do doctors say
Where are you hurt?
Where do you hurt?
as well?
I found those two questions on the net but I am not sure
if they are really common.

(2) When someone looks ill, saying
"Where are you sick?" make sense? I saw that in some 'learning Korean' sites.

Thanks for reading. I'm looking forward to your help.

  • Hi, PIA Watts.

    1) Do doctors say
    Where are you hurt?
    Where do you hurt?
    as well?
These answers are possible. "Where do you hurt?" seems possible if the patient shows up in an emergency room with pain and no obvious injury.

"Where are you hurt?" seems likely in a conversation between a medical technician and an accident victim.

Thanks for your quick help, owlman!!!
    What a great place!!
You were so fast that you posted before I added my second question.^^
I'm still struggling to get use to posting here.

    You're welcome.

"Where are you sick?" doesn't make any sense.

"What are your symptoms?" would make sense in a conversation with somebody who doesn't have some obvious injury.

I agree with what Owlman has said. A doctor might also say something like, "What seems to be wrong?" rather than using the word "symptoms", especially if the patient is a child, who might not know that word.
