This may sound like a dumb question but which middle east countries speak Arabic? In other words, is there a Lebanese language and a Syrian language, etc.?
The Standard Arabic is the official language in the Arab World which includes 21 countries where it's used and understood, but not spoken in the daily life. It's also co-official in other countries such as Eritrea and Chad. You may see this link for more info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_language
However, each country has a certain dialect that even ramifies within the country itself depending on the region, city, village...etc. Thus, the accurate designations would be: the Syrian, Lebanese, Saudi, Moroccan...etc dialects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_dialects
