Which name do you prefer?

    Hello again,

I have a question about the above question in the following context:
My friend is from Georgia but we all call him Fedya, however his real name is something else. At times I want to ask him which name he prefers but am not sure if there is a shorter variant other than: какое имя ты предпочитаешь? I just want to know if there is a shorter, more colloquial variant because this one sounds a little long-winded.

    Thank you!

You may want to ask: "Как(им именем) тебя лучше называть?"

Fedya is the short from Fyodor. Russian is the language with a long words, so don't worry about the length

А какое имя тебе самому больше нравится? will sound more natural in Russian. Предпочитаешь would make the whole phrase sound a bit too formal.
