Hi,

If I were asking someone to recommend a few books for my research project, should I use "would" or "will" in the following?

Your recommendation, I believe, would / will be immensely helpful.

I'd appreciate your help.

Your recommendation, I believe, would [, if you were to give it,] be immensely helpful.
Your recommendation, I believe will [in the[near] future] be immensely helpful.

Are you suggesting both are possible? Which one is more likely? I think the second one is, isn't it?

WILL talks about the future that is certain that is gonna come about.
WOULD in my view has a formal tone. Not only in english I notice it, but in english as well.

Both are accepted. It depends on the context. In this situation,I would use "will".
