    Dear Word Referees,

    1. Why do most writers end their letters with A as against B?

    A. I would be expecting your response.

    B. I will be expecting your response.

    2. Is ending it with B just as good as A?

    Thank you in advance

I've never seen A. used. B. is fine.

    Thank you, The Newt.
But why do you think A. is better?

    I don't think it's better; I would say that it's wrong.

I've often seen sentences like A used. Many urban Indians think "would" is a fancier version of "will". I agree with The Newt that B's fine.

It may be a regional difference. "Would" sounds very odd to us in this context.

I agree it isn't the correct choice. I meant that people who use "would" instead of "will" do it under the mistaken impression that it's a more formal version of "will".

    Yes, quite possible.
