Hello!

I don't have much knowledge about weapons but I came across a a paragraph in a Swedish novel translated into English called The Mountain King by Anders de la Motte

It talked about Remington M870 and then the translator word the following:
Remington 870,’ Asker adds. ‘The best-selling pump-action shotgun of all time. Or the wankmaster, as it’s sometimes known, which probably refers to the owner as much as the loading movement itself.

It didn't make sense and after googling it, I found out it's Wingmaster, but still I don't know how this name is related to the loading movement or the owner even after trying to find all the possible meanings of "wing"

As you found out, Wingmaster is a trademark referring to the Remington Model 870 pump-action shotgun.
Birds are mostly hunted with shotguns, since 1, they are relatively small and high-power rifles are not required, and 2, they are easier to hit with a shotgun as they are flying -- or "on the wing,"as we say.
Thus, bird hunting is also called wingshooting.
Therefore, Remington Arms Corp came up with a trademark that implies mastering the art of wingshooting.

The writer of The Mountain King puts forward the alternative suggestion that the gun is called the wankmaster because people who own it are wankers.

I don't know why it's said that the book is a translation from Swedish into English, as the author was born in America, and was educated there. All his books seems to have been originally published in the US, not being translations. As far as I could find, none of his books have been translated into Swedish. His surname is Finnish, not Swedish.

Wankmaster sounds like a British dubbing because the word wanking/wanker is not used here. I'm sure it was from the stroking action used to reload another round into the breech. The Wingmaster was my favorite shotgun of all time. (Like McDonald's "Millions sold").

Thank you so much for the explanation, it helped me a lot, but to be honest the translator was playing with words to serve a hidden meaning, although it can make some readers confused like me as I'm unfamiliar with weapons

No, the thing is I'm unfamiliar with weapons at all, so I wanted to know why the real name had the word wing and why it was changed in the text, but I got it now, so thanks for you concern!

Thank you for having posted the name of the author, it would have been much easier to find the correct answer if it had bern in your post from the beginning.

The name "wankmaster" is the character's "nickname" for that specific gun, it's a direct translation of the Swedish word she uses. In the book the character (a police) is said to have worked at a gun range while studying in the US.
