Hello everybody!
Would you include the article "the" in the following sentence?
"Las rebajas de invierno empiezan el uno de enero"

A) The winter sales start on January 1st
B) The winter sales start on January the first
C) Winter sales start on January 1st
D) Winter sales start on January the first

    A) y B) son las formas que se eschucharian en conversaciones de la vida cotidiana.

    C) y D) son las que se verian o se oirian en anuncios por la television/radio que anuncian rebajas de una tienda en concreto.

    Rectifico. El hecho de que son "winter sales" las que salen en tu frase, implica que se diria "The winter sales start on...", con seguridad. Eso se debe a que "sales" se refiere a las rebajas en general, mientras que "[a] sale" solo puede ser de tienda en concreto durante un periodo de tiempo. Ejemplos:

    The winter sales are great for the highstreet shopper, with many savings on all types of products.
    The El Corte Ingles winter sale starts on January 1st.

    I personally would A and C interchangeably. I'm not sure which is more correct according to standard English, but in AE both are heard.
