Can I use "within" not only for geographical space but also for a particular field, for example "within physics" or "within the field of physics"?
Which one is more correct?

Within the field of applied music, such as films or installations, the sound emphasizes the image

    Thanks.

In your sentence, I'd prefer "In the field of applied music..." ("Within" conveys the impression of "being limited to".) But yes, there could be sentences where "within the field" works.
