Hello, I sometimes have problems with this preposition. If I use it in this sentence, is it OK?

The methods were tested within the research activities of the author.

Not if you mean something like "as part of the research activities."

Can you tell us a little more about what you want your sentence to mean? Did the author's research test the methods, or did it use the methods to test something else?
