"Some people aren't sure how to exercise and others think it is uncomfortable to go to a fitness center to work with a trainer."

In this sentence, "work" was used as the same meaning with "work out"?
If so, what's the difference between them?

I agree that both work in this context. In general, though, there is a difference. "She was uncomfortable with her therapist and said she could not work with him", for example, would mean that she could not work together with the therapist on her problem. To me, the sentence above has the same meaning.
