worried/preoccupied

Good morning!

I was wondering if these adjectives are sometimes used interchangeably in spoken English.

Here are some examples:

I was worried about my financial situation

I was preoccupied with my financial situation

My point is: Does the meaning remain the same? Are there any nuances of meaning?

Thanks for your explanations
