    Hi there,

The second phrase sounds much more natural, the first is very formal, and perhaps slightly exaggerated. I know it is fine to say "I hope I'm not imposing by (e.g. 'turning up unannounced')" but "an imposition" sounds a little bit dramatic.

    Hope that helps.

Would it be too much of an imposition to ask you to pick my parents up from the airport?

    Hi,
Is it right to understand the above as "would it be too much of an unfair burden ...?" Thanks.
