Hi,
This question is about a child writing a wish list to Santa.

1) I would like a puppy for Christmas.

2) I would like to have a puppy for Christmas.

3) I would like to get a puppy for Christmas.

I have a tendency to go with choice #2. Do you have any suggestions?

#1, though I think "want" might be more likely than "would like."
    Hi RM1(SS),
Is there a difference between "would like" or "would like to have"? Say I am at a fast food restaurant, should I say, "I'd like a hot dog", or should I say, "I'd like to have a hot dog"?
