yielding nontranslation

I am translating this sentence from Edwin Gentzler's book and I don't know what "yielding" means here? Is it similiar to "yet"? This is the sentence:
The "-in", however is trickier, for it functions primarily as a prefix of negation in Portugese, yielding nontranslation, but combined with "tra" to form intra, it conjures up the idea of penetration, yielding the polyvalent term of antitranslation/translation from within.
Many thanks for any suggestions.
