Hi everyone

Can "sich leisten" be used in the context of saying that you can't afford to be arrogant?

I.e. Du kannst es dir nicht leisten, arrogant zu sein.

Or is it limited to financial contexts? E.g. I can't afford this car.

    Absolutely, yes. Leisten can be used figuratively and this is even more often than the literal, financial meaning.

    Er kann es sich nicht leisten, noch mal zu spät zu kommen. Er bekommt sonst bestimmt eine Abmahnung vom Chef.
    Du kannst es dir nicht leisten, arrogant zu sein -- so viele Fehler, wie du in letzter Zeit gemacht hast!


    Note the perfect tense usage:

    Da hast du dir ja ganz schön was geleistet! (Gosh, you made a serious mistake!)
    Susi hat sich gestern was geleistet. Du wirst es kaum glauben! (You won't believe it what Susi did yesterday.)
