Your heartfelt/hearty, encouraging words did boost my self-confidence.

It's heart for me to tell apart the meanings of heartfelt and hearty in the above. Could I use them both in the above? Do they differ in meanings? Thanks.

I don't see much overlap in the dictionary definitions: hearty, heartfelt. Please remember to start with the dictionary definitions first. You are always welcome to post questions after reading them.

I wouldn't use hearty. The only time I would really use that word is "What I need is a good hearty meal to get me going again" - that sort of context. I associate hearty with food.

Heartfelt words = words that were kind and meaningful
