If a person had a, say, French name but insisted he was German, how would I say, "I see. Your name is French though."? I'm guessing:

Ach so. Ihr Name ist allerdings französisch.

or

Ach so. Ihr Name ist trotzdem französisch.

why not ask him: „Ist Ihr Name französisch?" Even if you're quite sure it is in fact a French name, you are sounding less categorical (also slightly offensive)...as you imho do in those examples that you have given.
Or you could say: „Das klingt französisch."

strictly, i.e. from a grammatical perspective, yes. Would I use them in the context that you described? no...sometimes, some people can react in a quite surprising way, if you address the origin of their names

Allerdings would be fine. Trotzdem doesn't fit the context. It would suggest the other person had denied their name was even of French origin.

This works. The "allerdings" fits perfectly. "Trotzdem" doesn't work in this context.

Instead of "ist" you could better use "klingt":

Ach so, aber ihr Name klingt französisch.

Not absolutely exactly correct but a first approximation.

"(Aber) Ihr Name ist  doch (= ici: pourtant) französisch." Connotation: "I am sure your name is French and if you say it isn't that is wrong!" (leicht trotzig)

Btw, "trotzdem" = malgré cela ≠ malgré que
that's why it doesn't fit.
