I am doing an essay about youths that attend pubs, discos etc and I think that I'm using the word 'youths' a lot therefore I'm trying to fid an alternative not to repeat. This is one of the sentences..."In my opinion even sixteen is a tender age to attend these kinds of places because sometimes youths are not as mature as we think they are."
    Thanks for relpying...

"youths" is seldom used in USA in that context any more. "Young people" is your best bet.

But people use it in context as a category, like "today's youth" "the energies of youth" "a youth movement for candidate Obama"

But almost never as a descriptive noun for an individual or observable group of individuals.

    How old are they?

For me, youngsters gives a younger idea than teenagers, and teenagers seem at the lower end of the age scale for young people. (Young people can extend until about 30, I think - if you're 30, maybe you have some opinions on whether it stops there).
