I would suggest: "His mother gave him a few slaps for being rude".
Besides, "slap", as far as I know, is always related to the face. So adding "in the face" is redundant.

    First of all, we appreciate your report. This online dictionary wouldn't be what it is today without the collaboration of forum users like you. :)

    However, a "slap" is not exclusive to the face. It refers to the form of the hand delivering the blow, not to the part of the body receiving the blow. A slap is when you hit someone with a flat (open) hand.
